The short answer

Mammotion gives you more for the money: LiDAR that works under trees, all-wheel drive for 80% slopes and no station to install, from $1,999. Husqvarna costs more and climbs less, but brings a 4-year warranty, a 100-day money-back guarantee and local dealers, which matters if you want someone to fix it.

This is the classic choice in robot mowing: Husqvarna, the established name with dealers in most towns, against Mammotion, the newer brand that packs LiDAR and all-wheel drive into every LUBA. We compared their current US ranges from published specs, independent reviews and owner reports; see how we research.

How they find their way

Husqvarna's iQ series uses EPOS: satellite positioning corrected by a reference station you install (it comes in the box and needs its own outlet and a ground stake). You set the boundary point by point in the app; a physical wire is also an option. Mammotion's LUBA 3 AWD 3000 combines a 360° LiDAR scanner, network RTK and two cameras, and the LUBA mini 2 AWD uses LiDAR and cameras alone, so nothing needs installing beyond the charging station. LiDAR also keeps working under trees, where any satellite system can lose accuracy.

Slopes

Model Drive Slope rating
Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD / LUBA mini 2 AWD AWD 80%
Husqvarna 435 iQ AWD AWD 70% inside, 50% at boundary
Husqvarna 410 / 420 / 440 iQ Rear-wheel 45% inside, 15% at boundary

Warranty and support

Husqvarna wins here: 4 years on the iQ series, a 100-day money-back guarantee when you buy direct, and a nationwide dealer network. Mammotion gives 3 years, but owners of earlier LUBAs report slow repairs when parts were short and mixed support experiences.

What reviewers found

GearDiary's 420 iQ review praised the warranty and dealers, but logged more error codes than other mowers it tested (out-of-bounds slips, a blocked wheel motor), found the radar snagging on roots and the coverage uneven. Mammotion's LUBA 3 is too new for a long-term record.
