About Ecovacs

Ecovacs brought its robot vacuum know-how to the lawn with the GOAT range. The current US models, the LiDAR PRO series, map the yard with two LiDAR sensors and a camera, so there is no wire or antenna, and they add something no other mower we cover has: TruEdge, a string-trimmer head that trims along the lawn's edges.

Strengths and weak points

The dual-LiDAR navigation and the trimmer earn the most praise. On the other side, the GOATs are rear-wheel drive, so they climb less than all-wheel-drive rivals at the same price, reviewers found the front casters struggle on rough ground, and the sensors need regular wiping. Ecovacs questions

What is TruEdge on the Ecovacs GOAT?

A string-trimmer head built into the mower that trims along lawn edges, so you do less hand trimming. Reviewers say it cuts the job down a lot but doesn't remove it completely.

How big a lawn can the GOAT A3000 LiDAR PRO mow?

Ecovacs' US pages don't state a lawn size. The model number and European retailers point to 3,000 m² (about 0.74 acre); Ecovacs says it mows up to 400 m² an hour.
